Embark on an unforgettable 6-day hiking expedition to M’Goun, the second-highest peak in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. This trek takes you through breathtaking landscapes—lush valleys, dramatic gorges, and rugged mountain passes—while immersing you in the rich traditions of the local Berber communities.
Day 1: Marrakech → Azilal → Aït Bougmez Valley (1,800m)
Morning: 4hr scenic drive via Azilal
Afternoon: Easy acclimatization hike (2hrs)
Night: Guesthouse in Agouti village
Hiking: 5km ↗200m
Day 2: Aït Bougmez → Tarkeddid Plateau (2,900m)
Trek (6hrs): Past ancient rock carvings
Highlight: Sunset over “Cathedral Mountains”
Night: Nomadic shepherd hut (basic but cozy)
Hiking: 14km ↗1,100m
Day 3: Tarkeddid → M'Goun Summit (4,071m) → Oulilimt Valley (2,600m)
Alpine Start: 4AM summit push (5-6hrs up)
Reward: 360° views from 2nd highest peak
Descent: To flower-filled Oulilimt Valley
Night: Berber family homestay
Hiking: 18km ↗1,200m ↘1,500m
Day 4: Oulilimt → Aït Imi Village (2,200m)
Gentle Trek (5hrs): Through terraced fields
Culture: Participate in bread-making
Night: Traditional mud-brick guesthouse
Hiking: 12km ↘400m
Day 5: Aït Imi → Arous Gorge → Boutaghrar (1,700m)
Adventure: Narrow canyon crossings
Swim Stop: Natural rock pools
Night: Village lodge with sunset terrace
Hiking: 16km ↗300m ↘800m
Day 6: Boutaghrar → Marrakech
Morning: Final village visit
Return: 5hr drive via Tizi n’Tichka pass
Arrival: Marrakech ~5PM
