Depart Marrakech early (7:00 AM) for a 2-hour drive to Imlil (1,740m), the trek’s starting point.
Meet your guide and mule team, then begin hiking through the Aït Mizane Valley.
Pass Berber villages (Aremd, Sidi Chamharouch) and follow the river.
Gradual ascent to Toubkal Refuge (3,207m) (~5–6 hours, 12km)
Dinner and overnight at the refuge (basic dormitory accommodation).
Steep climb via the north cirque (scree slopes) to the summit (4,167m).
Reach the summit for sunrise (4–5 hours ascent).
Enjoy panoramic views of the Atlas range and Sahara.
Return to the refuge for lunch (~3 hours down).
Rest or optional short hike to explore nearby valleys.
Second night at the refuge.
Descend via the Tizi n’Tagharat pass (3,500m) into the Azzadene Valley.
Stop in Tizi Oussem (1,800m) for lunch at a guesthouse.
Continue through walnut groves to Aït Aïssa village (~5–6 hours total).
Homestay with a Berber family (traditional dinner and cultural experience).
Gentle hike through the Mizane Valley back to Imlil (~3–4 hours).
